Good afternoon. I'm blogging from my sister's hospital bedside and was thinking about the fact that I chose to live in California and now Florida for the past 30 years...away from my family who are 95% in Houston, Texas. It saddens me to think of all the time that I was not here to physically share the day-to-day life experiences with her. To think of the things we would have done together? Have lunch or dinner. Renting "chick flick" movies and watch them together. I won't dwell on it and feel guilty for living my own life, but I do feel that I missed some opportunities.
That started me thinking about other aspects of life. What are those things that I wanted to do, that I haven't done yet. I guess I should make my own "Bucket List" (If you haven't seen the movie, I recommend it.). List the places I want to visit, the things I want to do, the dreams I want to build.
From this point on, I will work on seizing the best at all times and not allow opportunities to slip through the swiss cheese holes that exist my life. So, I plan to plug those holes and get sharp like cheddar. I'll get more focused and use my time more wisely. It's time for a paradigm shift!!!
Maybe then, the real riches of life...friendships, family and finances will show up more abundantly in my life.

The Pot Won't Leak
Tonight I sit with my brother enjoying his company and a movie. It's something we don't get to do often. Interestingly, as soon as the movie was over, my mind began it's racing act. I began thinking of all I have to do...for Soul Purpose...for my team...for my mother, sister, nephew, etc...and I could feel my pulse began to race. No doubt you've felt it before too.
Where do you start and how do you balance all that's on your plate. Me? I make lists. Once I see it all laid out, it's much easier to prioritize. I look for the 5 most important tasks to get done and DO THEM without deviation or distraction. Then if time permits, I go to the next 5 and so on. You won't forget anything. You won't miss anything important. It's like knowing that when you put on a pot of water to boil. You have confidence that the pot won't leak. It will hold the water. You don't have to stand there and watch it' just let it do its thing. That's the beauty of a system and structure.
While my dear friend Terri teases me about being a bit anal but I have found that it works for me. Order and structure gives me comfort that things are getting done (I won't lose or forget anything) and that gives me the peace of mind I need to be able to take time for me.
Tomorrow's another day but right now is ME TIME! So, I going to light a my Zanzibar Girls Club candle, soak in a sumptuous bubble bath and luxuriate my skin with our new "sugar-shea" body scrub!
Obviously this is a work in progress, but practice makes perfect, right? What's your secret to being able to achieve a state of total relaxation?

Change is up to US!!
As I watched the inaugural events of the day, I was inspired, moved, overjoyed and blessed to witness such a day as this. I want to thank some powerful women in Houston, Texas...Kenyatta, Lessie, Leslie, Onecia & Marcie...for their gracious invitation and awesome INAUGURAL DAY BRUNCH!
Regardless of your vantage point, know that the torch has been passed...not just to President Obama...but to each of us. As we let the historical value of today's events soak in, let's remember that CHANGE IS UP TO US.
Change for our collective wellness as a community.
Change for our state of emotional & physical wellness.
Change for our state of emotional health.
Change for the level of our business success.
Change for our state of financial wellbeing.
Although our first instinct is to resist change, we can choose to embrace this as it is...an opportunity to LIVE the life of our dreams. Let's choose CHANGE!!!
Through this blog and/or the our businesss partnership in SOUL PURPOSE, I look forward to seeing the power of CHANGE and how it manifests itself in your life.
A New Paradigm in 2009!
