It's been a long time since I've blogged and I've missed communicating with you. As much as it is a joy to share with you, it's actually therapeutic for me to reflect and collect my thoughts. My life continues to be hectic as I try to create some balance between building my Soul Purpose business, managing my sister's health care and family issues and trying to have a personal life. Yeah, right!
I recently learned that the Chinese symbol for CRISIS and OPPORTUNITY is the same. That made me think about the recent challenges I've been facing in my own life. While this CRISIS of my sister's health care has shaken my family to the core, I am challenging myself to discover the OPPORTUNITY that this crisis presents. I know that I'm learning a lot...
Let me tell you that the health care industry is a TRIP!!!! There is so much they don't tell you and you have to stumble upon it by yourself. So, here's just some of the things that I've learned in the last 5 months...
1. Check your health insurance policy to ensure that it provides for long-term disability. You never know what can happen and if you become permanently disabled, you'll want the coverage from your insurance company whether you have to stay in a hospital or skilled nursing facility on a long-term basis. If you or your loved one can be cared for at home, you'll want to ensure that your coverage provides for a HOME CARE PROVIDER. This is someone who will come to the home to provide assistance with bathing and other patient care.
2. Set up a living TRUST. Do it NOW!!!! By having a trust, everything can transition smoothly to whomever is designated without having to hire attorneys or going to court. Put everything you own into the TRUST, name an executor who from day one will be able to begin handling your personal and financial affairs for you. Without this??? No one will have access to your bank accounts or even be able to access information on your insurance. A Power of Attorney is nice to have, but the moment someone transitions, it becomes null and void...sending everything back into the hands of the court. My recommendation....a TRUST. Do it NOW!
3. Immediately when a major illness occurs, contact your Social Security regarding disability. Being approved for disability is a requirement for filing for Medicaid or Medicare. Also, please know that for anyone less than 65 years of age, you cannot get Medicare assistance until you've been DISABLED FOR 24 MONTHS!!! Yes, 2 years. What do they expect you to live on or be cared for for 24 month...but that's our government! YIKES.
4. Sit with the family and make a plan for who will do what. Between taking care of my sister's finances for her daycare center and interacting with doctors, nurses, insurance, care providers, etc., my head is about to explode. But God is good and everyday, I am thankful for what he provides each day. Be sure to share the responsibility so that you do not get burned out.
Finally, I must say that I am so grateful for my Soul Purpose business. My commissions are over $3000 month and will enable me to contribute to my sister's health care as needed. I'm committed to continue to grow it...I can't wait to hit $10,000 a month!!! I'll be able to pay off my bills and help the family. That, to me, is what network marketing and creating a residual income is all about...building wealth. I don't want this blog to be an ad, but if you want more information just go to my site http://anew.soulpurpose.net or call me at 321-217-3912. I'll be happy to tell you more!
Until next time, enjoy every precious moment life presents. If there's something you don't like about your life, do something to change it.
With your success in mind,
Cheryl A. Cormier
