Tonight I sit with my brother enjoying his company and a movie. It's something we don't get to do often. Interestingly, as soon as the movie was over, my mind began it's racing act. I began thinking of all I have to do...for Soul Purpose...for my team...for my mother, sister, nephew, etc...and I could feel my pulse began to race. No doubt you've felt it before too.
Where do you start and how do you balance all that's on your plate. Me? I make lists. Once I see it all laid out, it's much easier to prioritize. I look for the 5 most important tasks to get done and DO THEM without deviation or distraction. Then if time permits, I go to the next 5 and so on. You won't forget anything. You won't miss anything important. It's like knowing that when you put on a pot of water to boil. You have confidence that the pot won't leak. It will hold the water. You don't have to stand there and watch it' just let it do its thing. That's the beauty of a system and structure.
While my dear friend Terri teases me about being a bit anal but I have found that it works for me. Order and structure gives me comfort that things are getting done (I won't lose or forget anything) and that gives me the peace of mind I need to be able to take time for me.
Tomorrow's another day but right now is ME TIME! So, I going to light a my Zanzibar Girls Club candle, soak in a sumptuous bubble bath and luxuriate my skin with our new "sugar-shea" body scrub!
Obviously this is a work in progress, but practice makes perfect, right? What's your secret to being able to achieve a state of total relaxation?
Hi Cheryl,
ReplyDeleteTo achieve a state of total relaxation I look forward to going to my favorite Spa in Pennsylvania for a couple of days. I usually go every year during Spring Break. Just thinking about that makes me so happy. However, when I'm home I take a nice bubble bath with my favorite shower gel Brazilian Jackfruit and I have candles lit all around the tub and I love to play spa music and just soak and relax. I love pampering and being pampered that's why I love Soul Purpose!!

AMEN!!!!
ReplyDeleteSoul Purpose plays such an important role in our ability to enjoy life more on so many different levels. Personal pampering and wellness is most definitely an overlooked art. But it's amazing how many peole just absolutely CAN'T relax thinking of all the things they have to do and responsibilities weighing on their shoulders.
Through Soul Purpose, I know we're touching and improving lives at a very fundamental level. That brings me great joy!!!
